The bio-compostable alternative to classic polystyrene.  PLA, or poly-lactic acid, is a polymer from renewable sources; material that is obtained by polymerization of lactic acid derived from dextrose (sugar).  Dextrose is converted into lactic acid through a fragmentation process, and subsequently into versatile polymers; suitable to produce resins similar to plastic or fibers.
